Calgary lake & family communities
Private beaches, skating in winter, mature trees and quiet crescents. Explore the neighbourhoods I know best.
Lake living, inside city limits
More lake communities than any other Canadian city
Each of Calgary's lake communities is built around a private, man-made lake run by a residents' association. Homeowners pay an annual fee for access to beaches, swimming, non-motorized boating, fishing and winter skating. Most homes are single-family, with the most sought-after properties right on the water.

Lake & gated community checklist
- Confirm the annual residents' association fee and what it covers
- Ask about special assessments or planned lake improvements
- Check rules for boats, docks, guests and beach hours
- Compare waterfront premiums with homes a short walk from the beach
- For gated or bare-land condo communities, review bylaws and the reserve fund study
